Text To Vector Not Working

Text To Vector Not Working

When I select text and choose "Object to Path" it doesn't really behave like a regular vector.

  1. I can no longer edit it as text (this is good)
  2. If I do a select all, the nodes of all vectors are selected except for the ones that used to be text (this is strange)
  3. I uploaded the design to Spreadshirt (print on demand service for t-shirts) and the regular text (not converted to a path) does not show up.
  4. If I convert the text to a path, the only thing that shows up is converted text, the other vectors no longer show up.
  5. When the problem in #4 occurs, only 3/4 of the converted text shows up for some bizarre reason.

How much of this do you guys think is an Inkscape problem vs a Spreadshirt problem?

you have to ungroup the text after converting it. The spreadshirt svg reader may not be able to parse groups

So I actually have 4 textboxes, with just 1 character in each (alpha, omega, tilde, and an infinity sign). I did all of them individually.

can you provide a file? I can at least look for irregularities and eliminate Inkscape as the problem

Sure. I've contacted them too, so I am hoping from some feedback on that side as well.

Try this version, and also please consider upgrading your Inkscape to the current stable version, I ungrouped and made everything into paths. You might also check to see if your target app can handle transparency.

Thank you! Now when I do a "select all" their nodes are selected as well. I didn't realize my Inkscape was so out of date, I've gotten so used to programs updating themselves.

After converting text the path or paths are always in a group, even in new versions, so that wasn't the problem, your other app just can't do groups maybe. Also there was a layer, which is a group as well which I took out.
