Line within a line for street map

Postby rdy4trvl » Thu May 16, 2013 2:13 pm

I'm creating a simple map for a non-profit event. I'd like to draw a white line (road) with a thin black outline to provide definition - it's simple a line within a line. Additionally, I'd like to save the setup for reuse as a default setting of some type to easily recall.
Any help (beginner level, please) is appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds more like a line on a line than line within a line.
Draw the road with a thick black stroked path,
duplicate it with Ctrl+D,
set thinner stroke width and white stroke colour at the stroke and fill panel -Shift+Ctrl+F.

Thanks Luzur! Worked first time. I should have seen this but was a bit overwhelmed with the options.

See viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14072 for a proposal of extension that will allow multiple stroke and could simplify thos kind of task (no need of dup, easier to reuse)

v1nce,
Thanks. That's powerful and potentially a BIG time saver. Might be a bit out of the reach of this beginner but I'm going to look into it. Thanks!!

This is a proposal I make for future enhancements of SVG, so don't rush for them, they're not out yet.
