Hello.
I just registered here, and has significant problems due to the very unhelpful message "One or more of the fields entered was marked as spam". I might just be stupid, but what that message meant was so unclear that I had to waste about 10 minutes googling it until I understood what the problem was. It seems that someone somewhere must be using my favorite username to send spam. While that username might be used for spamming, it's not the username that is spam, but rather the content that is spread using it. Neither a username, nor an email nor a password could be spam. Only *messages*/pictures can be spam.
Something like:
"One or more of the values entered was marked as used-by-spammers"
would be much clearer IMO.
One or more of the fields entered was marked as spam?

Gosh, I'm sorry about that
I know how frustrating it can be, because I've had a similar problem at a different forum.
I'm not sure where this message may have come from, and I expect the forum admin will address this for you. But I think there's a forum mod which helps us weed out potential spammers at the registration level. I'm guessing it identified the username, and automatically kicked out an email. And if that's the source of this message, I think the proper place to complain would be at the phBB website, and more specifically, the author of the mod. There's a link at the bottom of the page.
I could offer many examples of the phBB forum software not being as polished as I would like. But I don't think it would really advance this discussion. So let me just apologize, and say that I hope you otherwise enjoy the forum
(I'm sure you've already thought of this. When I had this trouble at another forum, I simply added and extra character to my name, and it went through just fine. I can live with brynn2 instead of brynn. I actually kind of like the non-letter/number characters, but I couldn't decide which one to use!)

My apologies. The messages displayed aren't configurable, so it's just the way product is. Perhaps the developers will correct this in a future version.
Re: One or more of the fields entered was marked as spam?
I had the same problem just a few days ago. Luckily I found this post, went back and added "4" to my user name and voila, I'm no longer a spammer.
I did find it frustrating to get the message and not have the field identified so I could try something different without going hunting. I sent my original jkee through 3 times just to be sure I didn't get the message by some fluke in the system.
Still, glad I found the answer and hope others take the time to look for the answer too.
