I installed several TTFs on my Windows 7 machine.

When I used one of the new fonts for text in Inkscape it rendered as "plain" text. To summarize, Inkscape could see the font, had no problems letting me select the font, but did not seem to be applying it. I read all the old emails about prior issues, but found no helpful info.

Turns out the fonts in question are all Italicized, but my text wasn't, so the actual typeface was not being applied/rendered. Once I turned on Italics for my text, it displayed the text as expected. (yay!)
