Convert Pattern To Objects

Postby d00mvw » Mon Mar 17, 2014 8:52 pm

New to Inkscape and just created my first pattern. However, once the pattern is created, is it possible to convert the pattern to a series of objects?

At the moment the 'parent' object controls the properties for all the 'child' patterns. This is great, but now I want to change the properties (i.e. color) of each of the 'child' patterns. Is this possible?

Really appreciate any pointers.

Thanx. :D

Hi.

Stating the obvious, patterns are made for fill attributes of objects, in a repeated manner.
If you want several objects with different colours, you may try the make tiled clones option instead.

But if it's all for just a fill, then clone the parent tile, and convert the clone to pattern.
Then the fill will respond to editing the parent tile.
The parent object can also be a group of objects, however there is a rendering issue if clipping is involved in the parent tile.
