I'm going to do the unthinkable and ask a stupid question.
Why can't I get the snapping to work in Inkscape 0.91? Snapping worked fine in some older 0.48.x version which I do not have anymore. I'm scratching my head here because looking at the snapping options and grid options everything should be setup and ready to go.
Yet, when I create anything, like a starshape >> convert it to paths >> enter node edit mode >> move nodes and nothing snaps.
Grid is set and visible, snap option for grid is snap always. Nothing snaps. Nowhere. The shapes snap when creating them, but then moving them disables all snapping. And the most important for my workflow, the node snapping, is totally dead.
Is there some magical button or 6-step key combination that I have to press?
Cookie to the one who can answer and fix this. <3
Can't get nodes to snap
Re: Can't get nodes to snap
Probably no cookie for me, since I just tried what you describe (starshape etc) and snapping works. If you enable all snapping options, does it work then?

Re: Can't get nodes to snap
As far as I know now you need to enable the kind of object/node you want to snap AND the target object/node type too.

Yep, I ticked everything on and the object movement became superhyperslow (as it is calculating all possible ways nodes and lines can snap) and it started to snap to grid - ticked everything off one by one until I found it: "Snap cusp nodes, incl. rectangle corners"
There we go. You can has cookie.

Yup. Felt stupid asking the question (as I almost always try out all the possible buttons I find) and now reading that, but I guess this is learning.
