Node tool forcing snap between 2 nodes when Ctrl is down

Hi.

I've uploaded a short video here that shows what happens when Ctrl is pressed down when moving a node. There is two objects, where the upper one is just a copy of the lower one.

Is there a bug repport that match this behaviour or should I just make a new one?

Workaround is fairly easy: Just start moving the node by holding down Shift and Ctrl while moving. After moving the node a bit, then release mouse and move the node againg by holding down Ctrl only.

Hi.

This does not happen here, what are your settings for snap in preferences?
Using Inkscape 0.48+devel r12162. Win7 - 64bit.

Got it - might be considered a bug or "undocumented feature".

BTW - the bug tracker does have an advanced search option (use e.g. the 'tag' entry with 'snapping' to narrow down the search); and you can even use e.g. Google to search for inkscape bug reports ('site:bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape' limits the results to hits in reports & comments from the bug tracker) ;-)

AFAICT Bug #681286 “[snapping] nodes ctrl-drag not always working properly”
(affects development builds only, but not stable versions).

Have tested with stable version of Inkscape and confirm that this behaviour does not apply.

~suv (or anyone), I know you told me how to do that a long time ago. Unfortunately I had lost the message where you explained :roll:

and couldn't find it. So I'm thrilled that you mentioned it again, and I'm making a permanent note for myself about about it, this time. But I have a new question: In the above quoted comment, where you said, "....use e.g. Google...", makes me think it might be possible to use other search engines. Is that the case, or have I misunderstood your comment? If so, does that same string ('site:domain/page') initiate the search using whatever search engine you have set for your default search? Or otherwise, how do you invoke other search engines?
