So I imported an illustrator .ai file and did a single blur effect on the simple vector drawing. This worked. I was then able to save the file and preview it fine in a variety of browsers.
Similarly, if I create a new inkscape file, and type up some text with a font of my choice, and save the svg, this too works fine when I preview the .svg in a variety of browsers.
However, if I open the same initial file in Inkscape again, and attempt to add a layered font to it, or even just create a text box with some text in it on the same layer, and save the file, the added text will not show up in any browser I open the saved .svg in. I can then re-open the same file in Inkscape, and the text I had previously added, layer or no, shows up in the place i had previously added it.
Is this because I blurred the initial drawing? I haven't seen Inkscape warning of any kind of error from trying this procedure...
Thanks!!!!

Hi.
This might be due to the fact that layers is a special 'add-on' in Inkscape and not supported by the SVG standard (or browsers).
Try saving the file as 'plain svg'.

I think that is because you used a flowed text by accident.
Just click before you type with the text tool, and not rectangle select the area.
