Can't believe this's a bug!

Postby perfwill » Mon Aug 01, 2011 8:44 pm

I got some weird problem looking like an Inkscape's bug but I can't believe it's bug bcz it's so apparent, everyone should have noticed it.
I have three text nodes and a rectangle. I select all the four then press an arrow button on the keyboard to move, and boom! 2 of the 3 text nodes leave their positions and go to unexpected places  . Note that the problem also appears when I try to copy them.
I tried a workaround like this: group them and then move. Yeah it works, but when I ungroup them, 1 or 2 text nodes would go crazily to another place.
Why?
I don't think inkscape is buggy (as there're so few bugs in the bug tracker). So please don't let me change my (good) belief :D

So you're moving some text and a rectangle?
And when you move them, 2 or 3 of the text (letters? words?) go to unexpected places?
I just want to be sure I understand the problem, before I try to answer :D

"text nodes", I mean the full "box"es of text go to unexpected places, not individual words or letters.

I tried it and it seemed to work fine.
Got a sample file?

Yeah, I've never heard of that before, and can't think of anything that might cause it to happen. If you were dragging them with a mouse, I might guess that you have snapping enabled, and they are trying to snap to other things. But the arrow keys don't allow snapping.

There is a bug that under certain situations will cause items to be moved to unexpected places, but I've never heard of it affecting text. But just in case, have you changed the page orientation, or used Resize page to content? Or used any transforms?

Would you please attach the SVG file to your next reply, so we can examine it? (look below Submit button in full editor (not Quick Reply) for "Upload attachment tab")
