SYMMETRY P2

Postby SUMATORIO » Wed Jan 20, 2016 9:26 pm

Hi:

I've had a problem with the tool Tiles clone, the Symmetry p2.
I've made two examples and one of their it does wright but the other one it's complete wrong with the same parameters, none shift or rotation.

The original group it's compound by five elements in both cases. In the wrong example the even column are shifted.
Am I doing anything bad?

I attache two files svg .

Thanks a lot.

I don't think we'll be able to do anything except guess. That's because the options in the Tiled Clones dialog do not show up for us. Even when we open your files, the TC dialog shows the options from the last time we used it. It won't show the options or values that are used, for a selected object, like many of Inkscape's other tools/dialogs do.

Unless.... There might be a bug coming into play here. Which version of Inkscape are you using?

I notice in the "bad" file, the page orientation has been changed from the default portrait to landscape. That's the perfect environment for this bug to appear (transform attribute). Try making a new layer in that file. Then move the original group into that layer. And then try creating the same array once more.

I'll bet it comes out perfect -- as expected, just like the other one in the "good" file.

Brynn:

I've tried to do again with the format of the page portrait and this case work very well.
As you notice I agree with you, in this case, could be a bug.

Thanks a lot.

You're welcome :D

This might be fixed in the development version. There apparently were several bugs, which all cause various objects to be displaced on the canvas. Most of them are fixed in the development version, as far as I understand. Thanks developers!!
