XML error in extension

Postby hsuvanto » Tue Jan 03, 2012 4:06 am

Hi!

I have an image that I want to send to a colleague. It contains raster images, so I'm trying to run the extension "Embed images". However, it seems to fail with following error message:
"
The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml
"

I'm running OS X Snowleopard, so the "Sudo apt-get.." doesn't quite work. I just recently, wbou 3 weeks ago, installed the Inkscape and my version seems to be "Inkscape 0.47pre2 r22153, built Sep 7 2009." This sounds like quite easy bug to spot and fix, so is this already by any chance fixed? Or is there something I can do to fix this? Currently I don't know how to send the image to my colleague for editing... :-(

I would recommend to always download the software from the home page of the project (I have no idea where you might have gotten that vastly outdated and unstable build from).

Please go to http://inkscape.org and download the latest package of Inkscape (0.48.2) - file name of the download: 'Inkscape-0.48.2-1-SNOWLEOPARD.dmg'. Python-based extensions work out-of-the-box with Inkscape 0.48.2 on Snow Leopard [1] (the application includes and uses the required python modules).

[1] does not apply to the latest version of OS X: 10.7.2 Lion (WIP, see bug #819209)
