Create indent on a rectangle

Postby alkopop79 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 6:43 pm

Hi,

how can I create indents on a rectangle? I need it for laser cutting design.

I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. An "indent" could be 15 different things (or more). Maybe you could find a picture of what you want to do somewhere?

Hi

1 - Make a square (here in black stroke)
2 - Make a indent object (red stroke)
(Here I show just four possible out of brynn's 15 (or more) - :lol: )
Image

3 - Place indent object on square. (Use snapping to get alignment right. Basically - enable ALL snapping options)

4 - Select square and indent object, do a path difference. (Here done four times, once for each indent object -
( If you want to "keep" the indent object do a "duplicate object" CTRL - D) first. )

Have fun - show us your laser cut design - it's interesting!

Hi

Some additional info which might be of interest;

An Inkscape extension for making laser cut tabbed boxes already exists; see this thread; http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10403
