Hi all. I'm new to inkscape and the forums. I've got a Tshirt project I'm working on, and have a few questions.
First, what is an appropriate scale for a front left chest badge design, and what is an appropriate scale for a back center design. I'm guessing 5" for the front. and 11"w x 13"h for the back.
Second, when I first drew up the designs, I didn't take inch scale into consideration, so the back design is too big and the front design too small. Is there a way to scale all objects in all layers at one time so I can change the scale of the design without doing it object by object?
Third, how exactly do I convert the svg file to an eps file? The shirt maker says he can only use eps files. He's using Corel Draw, which I've read different things about... some say you can interface, some say you can't. But HE WANTS an eps file. So that's how I'm gonna try to do the final rendering. I'm trying to use Scribus to do the conversion.
Thanks!

Re: Making Tshirt Design; must rescale, convert to eps for C

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
1 -- I don't know if there's a standard size. I think whatever seems to look good, or fits the shirt. Or maybe you could check with whoever is going to do the screenprinting, and ask them if there's a minimum or maximum size that they can handle.
2 -- You can make all layers visible, then do Ctrl + A (Select All). Then scale using whatever method you want.
3 -- Inkscape can do the conversion. Just use Save As EPS. The problem though, is that EPS may not support all of Inscape's features. In the case of t-shirt design, it should be fine, but I'm not.....really sure. Here, I found some info in the manual about it. Scroll down this page to EPS (which directs you further down to PS): http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... xport.html. It looks like the conversion might result in a different size of your image, and if that's correct (sometimes the manual info is outdated) you'll want to take into consideration when you scale.
(If no one else replies here, with info about size in the conversion, you could always practice with a different image. It wouldn't have to be complex -- just draw a circle or something and note the size of the page, before and after conversion.)
I'm only a little familiar with Scribus, and not at all with how it handles SVG or EPS. I guess it's possible that Scribus could do what inkscape can't, as far as support of features. But I'd also guess that Inkscape should do it better.

I've got the scaling and size figured out. But no success with eps conversion.
So far, when I attempt to save the image in inkscape as an eps, I save it, then when i go to close inkscape, inkscape tells me that it will result in data loss, and it makes me close without saving. (it gives me three options: close without saving, save as svg, cancel... I've already got it saved as an svg.) I've used a couple of online converters, too, with no success. Scribus likewise is not doing the job.

I don't understand what that dialog is supposed to do. Maybe it's to give you a chance to save as SVG in case you didn't already do it. Since you've already saved the SVG, you could choose either Save or Close without saving. It doesn't seem to affect the file with the non-SVG extension. I've only dealt with it when converting to PDF though.
And I'm not sure if I've seen any warnings about data loss. Does that part come in a separate message, or does it come with the 3 options you mentioned? I've tried saving as EPS in the past, when trying to help other members troubleshoot an issue. But I really can't do much, because I don't have any programs that will open an EPS. So I can't look at the results of the conversion. I have converted SVG to EPS -- I just never know how they turn out, lol.
When you say you've had no success, what exactly does that mean. Do you mean that it just doesn't convert to EPS, or it converts, but it's missing some content or features? If you could describe what's happening or not happening, that might help us figure out what's going wrong.
