Postby Baazelbub » Wed May 12, 2010 2:37 am

I scaled up a drawing in inkscape to (using the right units) and i printed it out with microsoft paint. It came out 1 inch shorter on the height and the length, what am i doing wrong?

I am using inkscape .47 if that helps.

How did you get the drawing to Paint? Did you export the png? What dpi did you use? You should use 90dpi if you need the size to be accurate because that is the Inkscape default.

Print size can be adjusted in printing settings, did you set it to scale?

Thanks for the reply prkos, i figured out what i was doing wrong. There is a feature that i did not set in printing preferences ("enable maximum dpi setting").

Should i continue to use microsoft paint to print out my scaled drawings or is there something better to use?

I don't know exactly what Paint printing settings look like. Have you tried printing from Inkscape? Or maybe export png from Inkscape (300 dpi to print well) and then print from an image viewer or someother graphics application, GIMP maybe.
