New to inkscape and trying to merge svg files so I can delete lines I dont need that I want to be underneath.
So have these 2 files and trying to accomplish what I was able to do in tinkercad with 2 stl files then 3d print them. Only this time I'm wanting to use them on my cnc machine which carbide create will open.
Tried to group them but when I open them in carbide create it's still selecting the whole portion and that's not what I'm looking to do.
Thanks in advance

Re: Merging svg files
It's hard to tell anything from those photos. If you could share the SVG file, we could give you more certain answers. But here are a couple of guesses you could try.
1 - Object menu > Ungroup
2 - Path menu > Break Apart (Note that everything will probably turn black when you do this. The machine might still be able to cut with the black fills, but if not, you'll need to add a stroke and remove the fills. Let us know if you need instructions for those things.)
3 - If the image is not a vector image, and you have some raster format image (JPG, GIF, PNG, etc.), Inkscape can't separate the lines. You would need to make it vector first. You can do that by either auto trace (Path menu > Trace Bitmap) or manual trace using the Pen/Bezier tool.
For your question about merging files so that you can delete some lines, I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Why do you need to combine them first? Why can't you just delete the lines from whichever file they're in?
Well, if you want to merge them, you could just copy everying out of one file and paste it into another.

Re: Merging svg files
Ok thanks I will upload the svg files tomorrow.
In regards to deleting certain lines, it would be the ones underneath...if I try as is after grouping then the whole line goes....just looking to get rid of those underneath
