Decatenate/split path commands in svg files

Postby hellocatfood » Thu Jan 23, 2014 10:31 pm

I'm currently attempting to address a bug in another prorgam called nodebox, whereby the svg parser has trouble interpreting svgs that have their path commands concatenated. Bug link
[nodebox svg parser] can' t handle svg paths where the commands are concatenated to the values to preserve space. (i.e. 482.36a16 should be read as 482.36 a 16 but NodeBox reads it as one thing)

Of course one answer is for the developers to improve their svg parser, but in the meantime Is there any way to save svgs in Inkscape where path commands aren't concatenated/joined? Are their any external tools I could use?

Can you upload a sample file?

(The Inkscape files I have appear to not be concatenated.)
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Hello:

If you go to File> Inkscape Preferences > SVG Output, there are options to give format to the path attribute of the SVGs. It "may" work.

However, as tylerDurden says, if you could upload a SVG file with the problem, it can be of great help.
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
2.- Please check here:

3.- If you manage to solve your problem, please post here your solution.

Perhaps try saving as "Plain SVG"...

I opened/saved a file in SVG-Edit (web-based) which concatenated the path data. Opened that in Inkscape and saved as "plain" which re-wrote the paths with spaces in the proper places.

YMMV...

It appears it was either a temporary glitch or just an error on my part! Saving as plain SVG appears to work.

I was originally using this file http://openclipart.org/detail/20366/car ... 1024-20366
