This is first time in this forum, plz help me to resolve my problem.

I have a EPS file (about 12Mb) and I can't open it by Inkscape, it's very slow. Inkscape loaded with full memory and swap. My computer was crash.
My computer: CPU AMD 3600+, 1GB Ram.

Thank you for your help. Regards.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

Wow, I don't know why your message hasn't been answered yet. I usually see most all messages, but I do miss a few.

First, that's kind of a large file for inkscape to handle. But not impossible. I think the problem is probably with your RAM. 1 gb is pretty small for Inkscape these days. And for that size of a file, 1 gb RAM is not enough.

I'm not sure about EPS files. I know you can Save As EPS, so I assume they can be opened with Inkscape. And you said you're trying to open the EPS file? Have you tried importing it? I don't think it will make much difference, if any. But much easier to try than getting more RAM. However, I think you will have to get more RAM, in the end.

Or maybe someone else will know more about it than me?

Thanks for your help. I also thinks my problem is small ram because I can open small eps files easily. But I still wonder why I can open it in windows (illustrator), ubuntu (inkscape) is not??? with the same computer.

Ah, well I see why you think the problem might be with Inkscape, since Illustrator can open it. On that, I can't comment. I just don't know about those technical things. Someone else may know? But with that reasoning, one might also suspect ubuntu ;)
