"Ungroup" distorts outline of all group members

Postby e_r_i_k » Sat Oct 05, 2013 4:05 am

Hello ;)

I'm not a very experienced user to inkscape but I couldn't find an answer for this question anywhere in the forum so far. Please forgive me, if the question has been asked often before:

I use Inkscape 0.48.2 on Mac OS 10.8.4.

I have a simple group of objects (Paths with effects, filled). So far everything looks great. If I doubleclick the group, I can edit the single elements as expected - so far so good.

When I click "ungroup" the outlines of every element in the group suddenly change completely. Clicking "group" again and everything stays distorted. What am I missing? shouldn't "ungroup" have no effect on what the image looks like? I added the before and after ungroup screenshot to this issue.

I really don't get what I'm doing wrong here.

Thank you very much in advance

Looks like the z-order of objects is getting shuffled when you ungroup. It shouldn't be too difficult to re-order.

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Welcome aboard!

The blurring is much related with the bounding box's size of the objects.
If you want to ungroup your drawing that way, you should make all parts have the same sized bounding box.
That can be done by grouping each part with an invisible object -an invisible rectangle for example-,
before you group them together and apply the blur.
I may be wrong though.

Here is a topic on the same problem:
