help with pattern along a path

Postby inkscapehelp! » Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:36 am

I am new with inkscape...I am trying to surround a rectangle with circles to eventually create a scalloped retangle after 'union'. The problem I am experiencing is a deforming of the circle shape as it is duplicated along the perimeter of the rectangle. My steps are as follows: Rectangle drawn with the square tool and circle drawn with the circle tool. Both items converted to paths...with the circle being the topmost object. Selected both objects...extensions...generate from path...pattern along a path...then i get deformed circles going around the rectange mainly deformed at the corners...What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Do not use 'Extensions > Generate from Path > Pattern along Path…' (it always distorts the pattern along the path), use 'Extensions > Generate from Path > Scatter…' instead (this extension will arrange copies along the path without deforming them).
