I have scanned my pencil drawings and want to put them on top of background images. The best way to describe what I want toi achieve is to show you. This image was made by a T-shirt company at my request. The car is my pencil drawing over the top of the Japanese flag. I have been trying to accomplish this by experimenting with the Inkscape program, but havent had much luck. I somehow was able to remove the background empty space, but then the car image was transparent. Any help would be very appreciated.

You will need to clip the imported raster image.

Thus, you need to trace over the right area with the pen tool.

I tried that and am not getting any results.

I trace the image with the pen tool to get a good silhouette, then set the clip.

I did that, but wasnt able to remove the traced image. What do you do after you "set the clip" ?

Selecting both objects (clip path on top), set clip should cut away the background leaving the portion of the image covered by the clip path.

Are the image and clip path on different layers? They need to be on the same layer.
