Hi All,
after couple of basic tutorial i start to draw in inkscape.
currently i am working with tank image.
What should i do to make it more realistic and cool (better metalic color/shiny/glossy etc)?
Thanks for every advice.

Different kind of tank
Re: Different kind of tank
More realistic? Metalic? Maybe some reflective highlights? Make stroke much thinner or remove completely. Make the gradient which creates the round appearance more complex, and not symmetric. Add some kind of support stucture, so it's not hovering in mid-air. Or is it attached to a wall on the right side? If I understand what I'm seeing, that lower sort of conical shape (between tank and spout) should lie more in shadow. Maybe the spout too. So darker gradient there, and lighter on the lid. Maybe add diagonal light source, so one side has more shadow than the other, and other side more light/reflections. And maybe a cast shadow (cast on the structure or floor, or something). That zigzag line in the spout looks like the mechanism for letting water out of the tank. But if it's metalic, that would not be seen. Or otherwise, what is it? Find photos of similar tanks to get some more ideas.

Re: Different kind of tank
Hi brynn,
thank you for your answer.
For instance yes.
Could you give/show me some example? I quite understand support structure thing.
You are correct, the "zigzag thing" is mechanism for letting water or something else what is inside (for example sand) out.
I try to improve it and show you resut
I know that you are xxx level higher, so much many thanks for your time.

Re: Different kind of tank
Hi.
The overall shape looks like it's a symbol for a technical drawing.
Helix screw at the bottom? is that a cut/section view?
For technical details it is risky to add a realistic shading.
Can you show an example image, what kind of style/detail level you are after?

Well, it looks to me like it might be connected (bolted?) to a wall (or something) on the right side. So if this is a "profile view" then maybe the wall could be shown with a thick vertical line. But it's not just hovering in mid-air, is it? Something must be holding it up, because it wouldn't make sense to have the spout on the floor. This is what I meant by a structure:

Lazur has a good point though. If it's a technical drawing that shows how the tank works, or specifications for building one, for example, then a realistic drawing style is out of place. It would take a lot of skill to effectively combine a realistic appearance with technical details. It could be done, but I don't have those kind of skills.
