Editing .png file in Inkscape

Postby ashiq » Sat Jun 18, 2016 3:57 am

Hi,

I am totally new to Inkscape.

I have a .png file with some text and pictures/graphics(not done in Inkscape). How do I edit it in Inkscape0.91 so that changes can be made to the fonts as well as the pictures?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ashiq

Depends on what do you want to do. Upload a sample or that particular .png and explain what`s your plan. Out of the blue, check masking and Text dialog in Inkscape`s Manual.

On the other hand, .png is a raster image and GIMP, PS or similar might be the better "weapon" of choice?

Elaborating just a little on what Maestral said, PNG is a single layer format i.e. if the text overlaps the image anywhere then you can't change anything without losing parts of the image. If the text is in an entirely white or one-color part of the image it's possible to replace it with new text inconspicuously. The best course of action would be to obtain the original background pictures without the text.
Your mind is what you think it is.
