credit-card-like issue

Postby chris » Thu Nov 12, 2009 6:38 am

I'm a novice when it comes to Inkscape, in fact...
Been wondering if there's a way to cut out or trim down a picture like .jpg or .png or such so it results in a small portion of it put inside a given shape (like a simple rectangle or something) in a way that the shape’s contour/trim becomes now a picture’s outline as well.
I’ve managed to perform similar action on two simple shapes with no problem: merging shapes, deducting , adding them – it all works fine. Once you try same trick with group of objects against any other, even individual shape – you fail. Now I wonder if I could possibly cut a bitmap using a drawn shape. Any chance there?
Thx. Chris

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but look at Clipping: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Clip.html
