another interpolate issue

Postby brynn » Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:28 am

Hi Friends,
Should I be able to interpolate between 2 lines, when one of the line's stroke is a gradient with transparency, and the other one is solid? Or even a gradient with no transparency? If so, I have a file ready to upload, to show the problem.

Thanks for your help :D

I don't think you can interpolate gradients, only solid colors can be blended, gradients would be too confusing to interpolate (different stop numbers, orientation...)

I guess if we could interpolate gradients it would be one way to create meshes, not sure if it can be used a base idea for it.

we dont interpolate gradients as far as I know, but that could be a cool hack, like you say prkos.
I've used iterpolations to fake irregular gradients before, throw gradients (and some blur probably) into the mix and your starting to get mesh like.

Aaaahh, I see....
Yes, a mesh-like thing would be awesome!

Thanks for your help :D

it would be so cool for the gradient control line (the one that has the gradient nodes on it) to be interpolatable like a bezier line. The only requirement would be to have the same number of gradient nodes in the beginning and ending shapes and the interpolate extension could be modified to interpolate the position and color of each node (the way it interpolates the shape and fill now) in steps between the starting and ending shapes.
Almost makes me want to do it - oh wait, I can't write code. Drat.
Your mind is what you think it is.
