[Solved]Problem with toolbar: wrong place

Postby ienzo » Wed Apr 24, 2013 5:02 pm

One of my main toolbars ended up in the wrong place on the right side. The save, new and open buttons are all there when they should be on top. I don't know how that happened. I tried locking it back to the top, but the best I can do is to lock it back and to the right.

It's my first time using inkscape on Linux, and it is not as easy as it was on windows as I did experience the same problem before, but was able to fix it on windows.
I tried sudo apt-get remove inkscape and sudo apt-get install inkscape but the toolbar persists on staying in the wrong place.

Is there a reset to factory/default settings somewhere I can use to revert it to how it was before?

I tried going to ~/.config/inkscape and deleting the entire inkscape config folder just as it was suggested here
http://inkscape-forum.andreas-s.net/topic/2989676
But the result was the same: the toolbar did not move back.

Is there another way?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

I'm not familiar with Linux, but you could try the 3 options at the bottom of the View menu -- Default, Custom, or Wide. I can't remember which one puts which toolbar in which place, but should be easy enough to experiment :D

I did not see that! Thanks for the quick reply! It worked! Though why the settings were not deleted when I deleted its local folder is still a mystery to me.
