Technical Font Troubles

Postby sunimasuno » Mon Dec 31, 2012 5:16 am

I have read the sticky above and the FAQ on font troubles (thank you for those!) but unfortunately they didn't solve my problems. Though uninstalling that update did change the behavior of my issue with a different program 0.o

I'm attempting to use fonts from this site, Top

Welcome to INkscapeForum!

Since those fonts aren't entirely free, I don't really want to download, to test. But maybe someone else will. Inkscape does tend to be picky about fonts though. It certainly is not the first time I've heard of fonts working in other programs but not with Inkscape.

I don't really understand Inkscape's Glyphs editor and tools, but maybe your font would work as glyphs?

^_^ Thanks for your reply. I've spent the afternoon chewing on this and I think I've figured out what the issue was, at least most of it. I'm mostly posting this for future people's help.

I downloaded Fontforge and opened the fonts. I got a TON of error messages on the fonts that were giving me problems. Also all of the usable characters were mapped to some really extreme values, with nothing mapped to the usual values. So I moved the mappings and used all of the default replacement settings from fontforge and that appears to have fixed it. Thanks for your time!
