How to select a node when another is on top of it

Postby darkveil » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:27 am

Hi

Finally I have to give in and ask for help. I can't belive I am the first to hit this so I think the answer is so simple it is staring me in the face and no one else needed to post this question.

Anyway here goes.

When I am working with paths I frequently want to break a path on a selected node. This is fine, but the I am left with 2 nodes on top of each other and it seems I can (no matter what I try) select only one of them. One node seems to be on top and always get selected but if I want to only select the other one I can't.

The only solution I can find is to move the 'top' node and then select the one I want, perform what action I want and then try and move the first node back to where I moved it from.

Is there another way of chosing which node to select when 2 or more are on top of each other?

Thanks in advance
Iain (preparing to be mortified)

Hold your ctrl key down and then select a node.

Use Shift + Tab while in Node tool. Tab cycles through the nodes on the path and with Shift you're going the opposite direction.

Although if you have a large number of nodes, it could be tedious tabbing until you reach the one you want. I've approached this problem in a couple of ways. 1 -- usually nodes are not exactly on top of each other, so if I zoom in, I can see the bottom one well enough to click it; or 2 -- I click the segment on one side of the node or the other, then use Shift to deselect the 2nd one. leaving just that bottom node selected.
