I often use Inkscape to trace stuff, and then import the resulting SVG into Corel Draw 12 for further work. Everything works great but there is a small bug in the way Corel Draw 12 sees the SVG produced by Inkscape: when you import an SVG, it is seen by Corel as a group (even if the SVG is made of only one single object). Also sometimes certain elements of the group (if it's made out of several objects) are considered as locked. Ungrouping a group containing locked objects will result in a freezing (Corel Draw just goes crazy and doesn't respond). To avoid that, Corel has the possibility to enter the group without ungrouping it (hold CTRL and click on the group's objects) and unlock them one by one. Once unlocking is complete, ungroup the object (but only after saving the job, just in case something goes wrong).
Another advice (it's not a bug but can be really annoying if you forget about that): SVG files are RGB. When you import SVG into Corel Draw the colors stay RGB (flat and gradient colors as well). So if you are working on something for offset printing do not forget to convert the colors from RGB to CMYK (or spot colors if needed).
So keep that in mind when importing SVG from Inkscape into Corel.

Re: Inkscape and Corel Draw 12
Hi,
Great news. I was not aware that corel and incscape can talk in any way. Is the reverse possible? Exporting/copying or similar from corel to incscape?

Re: Inkscape and Corel Draw 12
Corel Draw and Inkscape (in the upcoming 0.46 version) can both export and import PDFs. So aside of SVG, PDF is a remarkable format for file interchange between Inkscape and Corel Draw. Of course things like SVG blur and other SVG effects aren't supported by Corel Draw, so one need to experiment a little with both programs and PDF/SVG file formats to discover what can be exchanged between Inkscape and Corel Draw.
