Hello!

Postby marydonata » Wed May 19, 2010 12:04 am

I'm italian, I live near Venice and I'm trying to use Inkscape for drawing my dress models.
I'm trying, too, to improve my english. And this forum can help me for both the things!

Welcome Marina!
Wow, dress models. I know we've had several people who create t-shirt designs, for screen printing. But the actual clothing design -- I think you're the first person here who does that kind of thing. My mother taught me how to sew at a very young age...all kinds, embroidery et al, and clothing as well.

When you say "dress modes" are you talking about designing the clothing itself? Or making...mannequins? Well, either way, I'd love to see some of your work (there's a forum here where you can post your imags)(if you want to)

By the way, your English sounds very good!

Thank you fo your replies! Thanks brynn for your words about my english! I'm not very young, I'm 54 and I've studied english many years ago, bu now I'm reading english books, to improve my knowledge.
My daughter is helping me, she knows english better!
I'm trying designing the clothing itself, there are professional programs for this, but they are very expensive.
I've studied illustrator, some years ago, and I know how it works. As you know, it's expensive, too.
I use Gimp, for my photos, and I use others open source programs like Openoffice.
So I had the idea to make my own patterns using Inkscape.

I've done a few and posted them on my Blog. I'll keep watching and hope you come back and share your designs. I did these more for learning about drawing and node manipulation but I think they came out ok. Files to download if you want.

Thank you for you kindness, Papasue! I read your posts, and I enjoyed your drawings.
I'm making sewing patterns with Inkscape, like this: http://www.4shared.com/file/L99mqSt9/ping.htm
and this: http://www.4shared.com/file/ZmjtdtfQ/Ping2.html
These are patterns for dolls, I've made some penguins for Christmas. This is my new blog, it is in italian, but I wish you can enjoy the photos: http://filimagici.altervista.org/blog/.
