Place objects on path

Postby Grobe » Wed Aug 11, 2010 5:01 am

HI.

I have imported a little image and I have a path.

Is there possible to place numberous copies of the object that is placed onto the path? Something like tiled clones.

convert your image to a pattern - object menu/pattern/ object to pattern, then select path first then object and do extensions/generate/scatter.
that should be all.

Thanks a lot :D

Imagine it was impossible to find this explanation by a google search (same search phrase as thread subject). Now, if I search for this on google, this thread appear as number four. And I haven't even used "inkscape" in phrase 8-)

I have one little question remaining. I did the extensions/generate/scatter in Inkscape, and make it looks good. However, If I alter the original path, the pattern* won't change, it seems frosen.
Is it possible to do the same, but pattern will change along with the path when it's altered - Just like when putting text on path?

* all the copies of the image along the path, I guess it's right to call it pattern.
