png GDK pixbuf Input

Postby linkBetweenInk » Tue Dec 02, 2014 4:05 am

Problem:
When I try to open a file to edit, I get the following dialog box:
png GDK pixbuf Input

Link or embed image:
Embed results in stand-alone, larger SVG files. Link references a file outside this SVG document and all files must be moved together.

[Choose] embed [OR] link [AND] Ok / Cancel

P.S. This causes all my object to be stuck to the canvas / white background. So, my background / drawing are merged into 1 object! (See the attached file.)

Issue Isolation:
This happens after I save my file as a png, then export as bitmap. I close the file and reopen to edit and I get this message. If I do not export as Bitmap, then reopening does not display this message.

What I Need Help With:
To be able to save as PNG, export to bitmap, close and reopen with my drawing not being merged with my canvas! :?: I appreciate any help that you can give.

Hello,
I've seen your file. I can open without problems.

I can't edit it because you have converted all the shapes to a raster image.

I think you are following a bad procedure.

Think in what are you doing.

You must SAVE your work as svg, not PNG.
You MUST NOT have to SAVE as PNG. I repeat, DON'T SAVE YOUR WORK AS PNG!
You MUST NOT transform all the shapes to raster!!

Only when you are OK with your result, you can EXPORT your work as a PNG. So, in this way you will have 2 files. Your ORIGINAL WORK FILE (IN SVG FORMAT, without ANY EMBEDDED IMAGE IN PNG!!) and your EXPORTED TO PNG FILE, which then you can use for your game if you want.

Please, RTM!
