Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode
Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode
Yeah, read topic. Triangle in, triangle out and elipse mode seems to work just fine, but the "none" mode acts just like "from clipboard" which makes things a lot more difficult. I tried to restart my comp, but it didn't help. Any way around this?
Re: Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode
Hi failkidd, welcome to the forums!
I'm sorry no one has answered you your topic. I guess no one either knows the answer, or anything close to it, including me. But I hate to see a question go completely unanswered, so I'll have a go at it
First I need to be clear on the problem. The title of your topic is "Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode", which would lead me to think that none of the other modes are working for you. But then you say 3 of the other modes work fine, and that "the "none" mode acts just like "from clipboard"". So if you can set me straight on that, I can at least try to help you troubleshoot.
Again, sorry for the delay.

Re: Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode
That's right
The other one's works perfectly. It's just the "none" mode that acts just like the clipboard one. I dunno why - it worked before and then it didn't, and then it worked again for five minutes and now it's just stuck like this. i think it was stuck in ellipse mode for a little while too. I didn't do anything - I was just plying around with it when it started to act funny, i didn't press any buttons or anything. Would it help to re-download it? I suck at anything computer-related see.

Re: Freehand tool stuck in "from clipboard" mode
Hhm...
Are you using a tablet? What version of Inkscape? What os?
I'm not sure what "Sketch mode" is. But in Inkscape Preferences > Tools > Pencil, there's a setting for sketch mode, that says something about averaging sketches. I don't really know what that means; maybe someone else will chime in on this?
Do you see the yellow icon in the middle of the Pencil (or Freehand) Tool
control bar (I think it looks like a tiny scrub brush)? It sets everything back to the defaults. Try and see if that will "release" whatever seems to be stuck.
If not, go back to Inkscape Prefs, same page as before. Trying selecting the "Create new object with:" setting called "This tool's own style". If you can manage to get it to work right for once, just draw a simple line, select it, and then in Inkscape Prefs, click the "Take from selection" bar. I kind of doubt this will help, but if it were me, I think I'd try it anyway. Actually, in mine, it shows both fill and stroke as Unset, which seems weird, but my pencil tool seems to work fine
I'm not sure what the deal is, but you could try unsetting any pencil line, and then click Take from selection again. (The object will disappear, but after clicking "Take from..." you can replace the stroke if needed.)
Beyond that, ???? I'm hoping you're using a tablet, and that it's something about the tablet that's causing this problem
