Gradient Across Objects

Postby AkumaStreak » Mon Nov 09, 2009 12:10 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to figure out how to group/combine (whatever the Inkscape term for this is) a few shapes (that are part of a larger object) so that I may create a linear gradient that spans the entire (larger) object. So far, I can only figure out how to make independent gradients on the component objects.

Thanks for any assistance and/or links to an appropriate tutorial that I might not have seen.

You can combine them onto one object, rather than grouping, and then apply a gradient across the combined object.

I'm pretty sure you could Group them as well as Combine them. However, in version 0.46, there's a bug involving gradients applied to grouped ellipses. So if you used an Ellipse for any of the components, and you're using v 0..46, it's probably better to Combine them.
