Inkscape is cutting to Craft Robo
Inkscape is cutting to Craft Robo
We have a lady on UKScrappers who is saying she downloaded Inkscape .46 last night and installed it this morning and she can cut directly to her Craft Robo, have any changes been made to .46 that would account for this?

Re: Something strange
There are now 2 people who can cut to their CRs from Inkscape .46, but it isn't working for me does anyone know why? The number has now increased to 3 people I have just figured out how to do it as well, but I don't know why it works.
Re: Something strange
I'm not sure why these messages have not been answered yet.
For me, it's because I don't know what a "Craft Robo" is, or what "cut directly to Craft Robo" means. Not that knowing will enable me to answer, but maybe it will help others. Plus, I have an interest in scrapbooking and am simply curious

Re: Something strange
Accordingly to Google "Craft Robo" is some cutting plotter series from Graphtec.
Re: Something strange
Oh yeah, I've heard of that type of machine, but never by any trade name. I wasn't sure if Craft Robo might be some technical graphic arts term or process.
So I suppose one makes the shape they want to cut out, in Inkscape, then sends it to the Craft Robo, to cut it out of their paper or card stock?
So you're saying that the machine is getting the command to cut it out, sooner, or before you expect?
Well, I really am out of my league here, but I don't know of any changes to 0.46, unless you're using one of the nightly or development builds for 0.47. It sounds like something that's been possible all along, but that someone has just figured out a shortcut?
If you really want an explanation, it's going to have to come from someone besides me. I could not even guess
I'm sorry, I wish I could be more help.

Re: Something strange
Yes, the Craft Robo is a cutting machine like the Wishblade, used by paper crafters for card making and scrapbooking etc.
I don't think being able to cut from Inkscape is new, we long term users gave up on that about 3 years ago as more dedicated software came on the market, but all these new software packages are very possessive of the machines they are shipped with, so they all have their own weird and wonderful file formats that can't be used by anyone else, they all do the same thing, but each one seems to have some golden function the others don't have, but Inkscape will do everything they can do and more.
The people who own the old blue Wishblade's have been abandoned by Xyron who sold the machines and they are stuck with some old software that only has a set of basic drawing tools, if that.
To get anything to cut from Inkscape, it is a bit hit and miss. It seems if everything isn't just right it won't work. You click on the print command and choose the CR from the list of printers, then if you go into the preferences for that printer it open the CRobo Controller windows where you can select the type of media you want to cut, adjust the cutting pressure and the cutting speed etc, you have to make all the changes in these window (not all of them work) BUT the cut button is not available in these windows so you have to click OK to get back to the window with the print button, when you click this it cuts, maybe.
It seems Inkscape is sooooo close to being able to cut to these machines and if it could be made to cut direct all this other software could go in the bin

Thanks I've already got this, they cut a lot smoother but very very slowly.
