Hi friends!

Could you please hint if there are any plugins for InkScape which allows to create and use customary symbol libraries in SVG documents (perhaps exactly with svg elements "symbol"). I've heard about such plugin from some collegue, but I fail to find anything with google search, so may be this was not proper information?

May be I need to make my idea more clear:

I want to have some possibility of creating "symbols" (in separate files!) and use them in my documents, but in such a way, that when "symbol" is changed in the library, this change also affects all the documents which utilizes that "symbol". I.e. it is important that I do not change the document inself.

Not at the moment I am afraid. Using individual SVG files as an image issupported on os/x and linux, however it imports a fixed resolution copy of the file and manual editing of the xml code..

The symbol library idea would need support for the use element being able to reference external files, whichit can't at the moment.

I am working to create templates/palettes and libraries for our team to have some standard way of developing graphics outside powerpoint.
I managed to get the color palette and layout templates, but sofar have not been able to setup a symbol library like this example http://ian.umces.edu/symbols/#_Instructions.
I know it is possible in CorelDraw, but can somebody provide some pointers how to get this as a request for development?

You can check the bug tracker for existing requests first. I believe such a request probably already exists.
