Is it possible to do basic photo editing with inkscape?

Is it possible to do basic photo editing in inkscape like saturation, hue, contrast, cropping? I have Gimp but it'd be easier if there was a way to do it all in Inkscape. Thanks

The most convinient way for me is to right-click bitmap in Inkscape and select "Edit externaly" from menu - this opens image in Gimp and automaticly updates it in Inkscape when it is saved in Gimp. But this feature is only available in Inkscape from SVN. Things like saturation, hue and contrast could be also done with filters or imagemagic scripts from "Effects" menu.

Cropping can only be done in Inkscape using a clip.

I thought the next version of Inkscape might be including some built-in controls, but I may have been mistaken.

Under Effects > Raster there are a lot of effects you can use, but I'm not sure if it's there in the official 0.46
