free software supported both ligatures and color fonts

Postby reti » Fri Nov 01, 2019 12:04 am

1) I would like to prepare educational materials for children. Exactly what I mean is charts with alphabet letters and pictures: srv19859.microhost.com.pl/2019-10-30_20h38_34.jpg Such boards could be printed or shown as a multimedia presentation. The ideal solution for Windows would seem to be Power Point or OO Impress. Unfortunately, they do not support color fonts (colorfonts.wtf) and ligatures (tiny.pl/t4rlx), which I care about the most. My first question: is there any multimedia presentation software that supports both ligatures and color fonts?
2) I can also make these charts in programs like QuarkXpress or Illustrator and then somehow solve the problem of efficient transfer of the charts to PowerPoint. My second question is: does anyone know any free software I could use in my project? I mean more or less professional software:
- for raster and vector graphics
- for multimedia presentations
- DTP
supported ligatures and color fonts. I am not limited to Windows and offline solutions.

1) Web browsers (Firefox + Chrome(ium), some pdf readers

2) Inkscape. But it needs to be the current development version, the color fonts feature isn't available in a released version yet. Don't know about Scribus (proper DTP software), but could be they support them, too. Ligatures work there and in Inkscape. I don't think Scribus does presentations (aside from pdf), though. It's meant for printing.
