Outlining text

Postby Matt50 » Fri Jan 11, 2013 6:18 am

I am new to this program and have a question. How do you outline text and keep a square letter square and keep the outline letters square. It always rounds the corners when I try out setting. Thanks!!

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

The best way to outline text is to simply add a stroke to it. You can use Object menu > Fill and Stroke, or click a color in the palette while holding Shift key. The width can be adjusted in Fill and Stroke dialog too :D

Note that Brynn's suggestion could still lead to rounded corners, depending on the "Join" setting in the Stroke Style tab of the Fill and Stroke dialogue. This is especially obvious if you use a thick stroke, but you just need to pick the left hand "Mitre Join" option to square it off.
