Hi, i just started using this program and tried to do some text outlines, but noticed that the outline fills in both directions from the edges of the text, which causes it to look too broad. It ends up looking like this https://imgur.com/APYMvF3
On gimp for example, i can make it look softer at the same pixel size https://imgur.com/K2eiAjz
Both texts and outlines have the same sizes (4 px) yet the one in gimp looks softer since it outlines from the path towars the outside only.
Outline text from path?
Re: Outline text from path?
I think you are mistaken here.
The best way to add a stroke to text in gimp is convertimg the text into a path and then stroking the path.
This results in a stroke which is half on the inside and half on the outside. Just as in Inkscape.
What i can see in your screenshots are different join styles. One has rounded edges and the other a bevelled.
If you want a stroke that only goes to the inside in Inkscape, add a stroke, then clip with a copy of the text that has no stroke.

What version of Inkscape (Please copy/past from the About window in Help)? What OS, version?
The current version allows changing the order of whether stoke is in front of the fill or not... In the fill/stroke dialog, stroke-style tab, order section at the bottom.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

I was using v 0.91. I updated to the latest one after seeing your comment, and this option you mentioned did exactly what i needed.
