Linked offset issue, need help fast

Postby pdracer24 » Sat Dec 24, 2011 4:16 am

When using linked offset with version 048, is there any way I can sharpen the corners of the shadow? Everything is rounded and the shadow doesn't have any nodes to adjust. If this isn't possible, does anyone know of a way to create a sharper ouline of text?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

That's just the way offsets work, with the rounding of corners. You can use Path menu > Object to Path, to return it to a regular path with nodes. So you might be able to use the nodes to sharpen the corners.

I don't know what all might be happening in the image you're doing. But if it's possible, you might be able to scale the text shadow, rather than offset it. Then sharp corners will remain sharp :D

Depending on how much offset you are trying for and what your font is, you may be able to get what you want by stroking a duplicate with a wide stroke, doing a stroke to path, and then a union with the unstroked original.

Note that you must have the join style in your <fill and stroke dialog/stroke style> set to square joins, not rounded, or you will have the same problem as with offsets.
Your mind is what you think it is.
