Pointed ends on the bezier tool?

Postby PeregrineX » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:57 am

Hello, I'm fairly new to inkscape (I've been using GIMP primarily) and I want to know if I can point the ends of the lines, for example, in this picture:

I want my line to extend out and make a point. I've followed some tutorials, and they all say to change the 'miter limit' to 100. This does not seem to work for me. Can anybody help me? :)

Miter limit only applies to angles IN the path, not its ends. Cap style applies to ends, but Inkscape does not offer a 'tapered' cap style. You probably want to change the shape profile for best results.

The included profiles may work for you, but you can make any profile and copy it to the clipboard to use it, as I have done here.(The top path is the profile)

Note that this changes the simple bezier path to a path with a path effect applied, so you need to know what you are eventually going to do with the SVG to decide whether to convert it to a simple path before saving...
Your mind is what you think it is.

I sometimes draw a line then click on 'stroke to path', which essentially gives you one line with 2 paths, then you can manipulate it any way you want, it's a good way to join two ends.

I wonder if you could make a custom marker that would work for this? http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... es-Markers
