Manual Kerning Between letters

Postby a_dejesus » Fri Mar 23, 2012 2:40 am

I'm working on a tutorial that states:

"manual kerning is done by putting the cursor after a letter,
holding down ALT and pressing an arrow key."

I cannot get this to work, I was wondering if it was different on Mac and maybe this tutorial was done on a PC. Can anyone help me figure this out? I am using Inkscape on MacBook Pro Snow Leopard OSX 10.8.

Yeah, the Alt key doesn't work right in Mac systems. Here's all the info about using Inkscape with Macs, including how to fix the Alt key: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... fic_issues

Edit
Plus you can search the forum for much more info :D

Note also that
  1. Inkscape 0.48 has new GUI controls for letter spacing and kerning (in addition to the keyboard shortcuts):
Inkscape manual » Text » Formatting Text » Kerning and Shifting
  2. Manual kerning does not work in 'Flowed Text'.
