simple question: borderless rectangle

Postby kinomania » Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:19 pm

Hi there,
I made a rectangle.
I just want to take the border out, to make it invisible.
Is there something like "Object borders / none" anywhere??
Your help appreciated.

Select the rectangle, and shift-click to colour: none

Or, in Fill and Stroke -> Stroke Paint -> No Paint

Cheers, M

The border is called a Stroke, in Inkscape. You can remove the stroke either in the Fill and Stroke dialog > Stroke paint tab, or right click on the Stroke color, in the bottom left corner of the Inkscape window, and choose Remove Stroke. This will remove the stroke from all selected objects.

If you want never to have strokes when you draw with the Rectangle tool, you can double-click on the Rectangle tool. This opens Inkscape Preferences > Tools > Shapes > Rectangle. There click 'This tool's own style'. Then on the canvas, select a rectangle from which you've removed the stroke. Then go back to Inks Prefs and click Take From Selection. Even if you do this, you can still add a stroke later, if you want one.
