I'm using a prerelease of 0.47 on Ubuntu and trying to get the same effect using the extrude extension that is shown here

Could anyone provide any guidance on how to get it to have smooth outlines?

Try adding more nodes to your path.

A yes, that appeared to help.

Also, found that increasing the stroke width and shrinking it by a pixel or two helped hide those jagged edges

That's a very kewl colouring effect.

Yes, very very nice. I can see using this to create stained glass effects. Would love to see a quick tut or couple of WIP screenshots if you have the time.
