I'd love if there was an RSS feed from the Inkscape home page. Basically I just want to be informed as soon as a new stable release of Inkscape is issued. It's a bit of drag having to check on the web site (when the thought hits me).

Can anyone say what the chances of this happening are?

Have you sent this request to the developers list? That's the place to ask, and I think it might not be hard to do but I'm not sure about the state of the website atm.

I'm not sure what the 'developer's list' is?
Might it be the "Request Feature" option (2nd from the bottom under Community) on the left menu here http://inkscape.org/ ?

While looking around the mailing list site I stumbled across the Sourceforge hosting page for Inkscape http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.48/ and I noticed a weeny RSS feed icon for that same page http://sourceforge.net/api/file/index/project-id/93438/mtime/desc/limit/20/rss.

I'm guessing that's where any new versions of Inkscape will be posted and as a result will pretty much full fill my requirements.
