Can anyone explain what the different save options in the PDF save dialogue mean
I can guess at just a few of them
Restrict to PDF version - this is pretty clear. I guess if you need to use an older library to convert your file, this is you field
Convert text to paths - I would assume that this prevents the rasterisation of text allowing for PDF zooming, but even if this is deactivated, I still get the nice zoomable text, so not sure if there is a bug here or what.
LaTeX, blah.... - Have no idea of what LaTeX is so have not investigated, but if there is a post that would end up acting as a kind of documentation of this dialogue, it would be nice to know what this is for.
Rasterise filter effects - I discovered just today that this will allow gradients and blurs to be rasterised and shown in the PDF.
Rasterisation resolution - pretty self expanetory. I have this bumped up to 300 since I want to have nice prints of the resulting PDFs. (makes very large files though and seems that even if you take this down to 72dpi for screen viewing, it makes no difference to the file size. Just on that subject I ended up only finding one premium PDF compressor that could do any significant compression on my PDF's, Neevia PDF compress. US$99.- !!!!!! and it only compresses, nothing else - ouch! )
Export area as drawing - no idea
Export area as page - no idea
Limit export to objects with ID - I imagine this links up to object id's in inkscape and allows for some filtering in what is written to the PDF.
It would be great if someone could please fillin the blanks here so that once and for all there can be a solid documentation of this dialogue.
