Saving Inkscape SVG with no Groups or Transforms

Postby Sceloglaux » Fri Jun 06, 2014 9:09 am

I need to be able to save a file with no groups or transforms. I can ungroup all of the objects by selecting and clicking ungroup - how can I ensure there are no transforms?

Is there a smart way to ensure no groups nor transforms are created from the outset, or a simple procedure to ensure that a finished graphic will have none when saved as an SVG file?

Many thanks

Hi.

Good question.
Inkscape uses groups for layers, and a transformed coordinate system from what's in the svg specs.
Do you want to get rid of those too?

Try to convert all objects to paths and save as plain svg, it may work better.

Thank you, Lazur

Your suggestion sounds like the right direction, as the software (Easy Sketch Pro) that needs the SVG files without groups or transforms is designed to follow the lines and 'draw' the SVG file on screen. I will look at paths at the next opportunity and report back.

Thanks too for the pointer towards plain svg - my next port of call was to find out more about Inkscape, plain, and optimised svg formats.

Hello:
There is an option to save as Optimized SVG, which have more features

About transformations.
It could help to go to:
Inkscape Preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) and then go to Transforms, and choose optimized
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
