No idea what on earth I have done but I want to put text around a circle. I have selected text and selected object to path. I have created a circle highlited the text and pressed shift on the circle then I have gone to text and selected put on path. This normally works but nothing is happening. What have I done wrong?

Don't use Object to Path. That converts the text into paths, but Text ‣ Put On Path requires the text to still be text. If you need to convert it to a path for some other reason, do so after you've put it on the path.
