Forum Rules - Please read before posting

Postby microUgly » Mon Nov 03, 2008 10:22 am

General Rules
  • Read How to ask questions the smart way
  • If your first post on this forum is to promote an unrelated site it will be deleted and your account banned soon after if it is not used to contribute to the Inkscape community.
  • Topic titles/subjects should be descriptive. "Please help" is not a descriptive title.
  • Do not post the same question in multiple forums. If you are unsure where best to post your question, post where you think it best fits and a moderator will move it if necessary.
  • Posting in threads that have been inactive for a long period of time (known as "Thread mining") is fine so long as your post is relevant to the topic
  • Do not piggy back other threads with unrelated issues. New topics deserve a new thread.
  • Do not use the forum to request assistance via e-mail or other communications.
  • You are welcome to edit your own posts, but do not remove them entirely or change the context--especially when one someone has already referred to it.

Etiquette
  • Excessive use of punctuation and capitalisation is rude (i.e. "HELP ME!!!????"). Font colours, bold and italics should be used for emphasis of parts of a post, not an entire post.
  • No personal insults, jackass.
  • Keep in mind that we are not all geniuses and gifted artists.
  • Exercise tolerance and keep an open mind.
  • This is an English speaking forum. You can post in another language provided you also provide an English translation so everyone can participate in the discussion.

Teach a man to fish
  • Learning how to find answers is better than being fed answers. Search the forum before posting and check the list of available resources.

Posting Images

Copyright
Note that the following rules concerning copyright are mostly about respecting other artists and do not reflect actual laws.
  • Do not claim someone else's work as your own.
  • Any reference material used for your work must be credited.
  • Do not use someone else's work without permission.
  • Do not use to display images from someone else's site. Instead link to the associated web page.
  • Fan art of copyrighted characters (i.e. Mickey Mouse) is acceptable (but that doesn't necessarily make it legal).

Censorship
  • Nudity is fine.
  • Depiction of sexual acts is not welcome. This includes depiction of sexually heightened states.
  • Put a warning in the thread title if you feel your work may offend.
