If I copy a text object (not just the text, but the object holding it) and paste it elsewhere, I either get:
a white box with the text in it and no way to make the box transparent fill, or
a white box with nothing in it.
same whether using "official" .48 build or the Aug 22 nightly.
is there a workaround for this?
thanks!

Is the pasted copy still a text object or a pasted bitmap? [1]
- If the pasted copy was turned into a bitmap image, please read this comment in an earlier topic: "Re: Mac Snow Leopard?" and adjust the X11 pasteboard preferences as described [2].
- If the pasted copy still is a regular text object - could you attach a sample SVG file with an original text object and the pasted copy?
[1] Select the pasted object and check the message in the status line.
[2] Mentioning your OS can provide valuable information to those trying to help you - your earlier question about not being able to change style attributes could very likely be caused by the same X11/Xquartz bug.

thanks..it was the X11 pasteboard prefs information that fixed this issue. I'm using Inkscape now in Lion.
thank you.
